Less pondering, more leaping
Hello,
Sometimes, the leap must be taken. No amount of thinking or preparing will teach you as much as that first attempt.
I re-learned this on Sunday when Lynn and I ran a test of Fish & Bear online.
Just a couple of friends on a Zoom call with a few bells and whistles. Simple really. And we’d run Fish And Bear via Zoom during the pandemic, so what’s the fuss?
Well, during the pandemic, we had a captive audience who were craving connection, so they were willing to put up with a clunky experience that often lasted 90 minutes or more.
That craving for connection still exists, but who looks forward to a Zoom call now? And who expects to satisfy that craving during a Zoom call? Not many of us, especially if it might take over an hour.
However, what we also know from running online events during the pandemic is that they open us up to people from other countries, continents, and cultural backgrounds, as well as those with physical challenges.
Lynn and I have been pondering starting online F&B since we rebooted F&B last year. But all that pondering gave us near-zero progress. All we were clear on were the constraints: less than an hour, simple to run, and easy to take part.
Sunday was a leap. I set it up without asking Lynn! I just scheduled it and invited her. 🤣🔥
She knew it was the right thing to do. We’ve been here before. Pondering and pondering about something we know we want to do.
And of course it worked. Just a few friends telling stories. What could go wrong? [Don’t answer that!!🤣]
Our next leap? I don’t rightly know.
What’s your next leap going to be?
See you Tuesday.
Mark
xx
